Ballard Neighborhood Doctors has a simple philosophy: listen, pay attention, educate, understand, and use the right intervention at the right time.  We believe in using the best tools for healing, whether conventional or alternative.

Dr. Bell, ND, trained exclusively in outpatient settings with a focus on health and wellness.  Dr. Weakland, MD, trained in both hospital and outpatient settings focusing more on disease and treatments for illness.  Working together, combining their experience, they deliver a unique style of modern medicine.

The doctors began working together from their shared belief in the importance of the physician-patient relationship.  Working together with a patient centered focus, they help patients to stay healthy and heal in deep ways.

Dr. Bell spent his 20's working as a wilderness guide and educator with The Outward Bound School.  Learning wilderness medicine led him to attend Bastyr University and to graduate as a primary care naturopathic physician.  Dr. Weakland spent her 20's as a Vista volunteer with at risk youth and later worked as a home health aide.  She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her family medicine primary care residency and a fellowship in reproductive health in Rochester, NY.

In 2007, Drs. Bell and Weakland went into practice together.
